Before we started Derek James Woodworking, Derek would build pieces for our family and friends. It's not uncommon for someone to see a piece we have built and request their own piece. That is exactly what happened with this project - our clients saw a rustic bar cart we built (to be featured in a later blog post) and requested one of their own.
Our client was looking for a light neutral color. We feel the white oak satisfied that while still adding character. In order to let the natural wood shine, we simply finished the piece with a clear coat - no stain required!
The curved shape of this cart adds for a sleek and modern rustic look. We also added stylish black wheels on the bottom that add a fun detail and practicality.
We felt that the white oak butcher block top adds more interest than just your typical top. And the black details add a touch of rustic to this more modern design. We chose to add pipe handles to both sides. And the corner brackets tie it all together.
But what would a bar cart be without wine storage? We added custom wine glass racks that hold the biggest wine glasses we could find. And we added a traditional wine bottle rack that mirrors the curved shape of the entire cart.
We had so much fun building this modern rustic bar cart. If you are interested in a piece like this, fill out an inquiry form so we can talk more about what you are looking for. We would love to build a unique piece like this for your home.
