Custom Project: Frenton Walnut Bar Top

Custom Project: Frenton Walnut Bar Top

The Frenton family recently finished the basement in their house, including a kitchen area. They did black stone countertops on the majority of the white cabinets, but they were looking for more of a statement on the peninsula. They weren't sure exactly what they were looking for, but knew they liked what we had done with some bar carts and with our own coffee bar.

We started off by asking a lot of questions about various finishes in their basement, including the cabinets, the stone, and their floors. Ultimately, we went over to their house to see the space for ourselves and we brought samples of a few options that we thought might work. We were really excited when they agreed that walnut would make the biggest statement, which is exactly what they were trying to do.

The walnut bar top was for the peninsula and included an overhang for barstools. It provides the perfect place to not only serve snacks and drinks, but for guests to sit and hang out!

This project was a bit tricky because it had to be executed so perfectly. It had to match the height of the stone countertop so that it didn't feel awkward or like a mistake. Plus, the cabinets had a slight angle where they wrapped around the corner of the wall. Rather than hiding the cabinets under the overhang, our client opted for this angled design on the bar top to make these cabinets easier to access.

The walnut is such a rich color and definitely makes a statement in the space. We can't wait to see photos of our clients entertaining their family and friends in the space!
