A young couple reached out to us about building a dresser and nightstands for their bedroom. During the big freeze last Christmas, a pipe froze in their apartment building and their entire apartment was flooded. Lucky for them, this meant they got insurance money for new furniture. Lucky for us, they felt it was time to purchase some quality furniture as they were thinking about buying their first home.
They were looking for a furniture set that coordinated but didn't match exactly. And they knew they wanted a combination of black, gold, and light wood. We knew natural ash would be the perfect contrast to the black!
We added some herringbone detail on the ends of the dresser for an unexpected element. Plus, the natural ash helps break up all of the black and adds some rustic charm.
Our client wanted to mix it up with the hardware. She wanted hexagon shaped gold nobs for the smaller dresser drawers, but long gold handles for the larger dresser drawers. It wasn't easy to find nobs and pulls that matched (there are a lot of different shades of gold) but we did our best!
We also made a pair of nightstands that were slightly different but coordinated with the dresser. Aren't the little gold legs adorable?
We are in love with how this set turned out and so is our client!
